YORK, Pa.–The Bon-Ton Stores has unanimously agreed to ask Byron “Bud” Bergren to continue in his role as president and chief executive officer. Bergren’s contract was amended to stipulate that he would continue to serve as president and CEO through Jan. 31, 2011 and would serve “in an important role to be determined” by the board of directors from Feb. 1, 2011 through February 5, 2012.
“Bud’s vision, leadership and execution continue to guide us through the challenging times we are facing in this very difficult retail environment,” Tim Grumbacher, executive chairman of the board of directors, said in a statement. “We look forward to Bud’s ongoing contributions as we position our company for future growth and profitability.”
The Bon-Ton Stores operates 280 stores, including twelve furniture galleries, in 23 states.
