NEW YORK–Bloomingdale’s is shoring up its public relations ranks as it “intensifies” press relations and its national media strategy.
Elizabeth Quarta has been named operating vice president of corporate media, and Elizabeth McGovern has joined the tony department store as director of national media relations.
Quarta most recently was director of national media relations covering categories that include home, bridal and corporate initiatives.
McGovern joined Bloomingdale’s from Keri Levitt Communications where she was lifestyle director, with clients including HSN—the Home Shopping Network. Prior to that, McGovern was account director for Kaplow Communications, where she worked on accounts including Target and Marshall Field’s department stores.
Quarta reports to Anne Keating, senior vice president of public relations. McGovern reports to Quarta.
“Once upon a time, our press office focused only on the major market dailies and retail trade papers,” Keating said. “Now the office deals with everything from major integrated branding and publicity programs with network and cable TV shows to an ever-expanding list of Web sites and consumer blogs,” Keating said. “We feel it has never been more critical to manage the powerful editorial voice that Bloomingdale’s has in the fashion and home lifestyle categories.”
